Since the age of seven, Buruca has always dreamed of becoming a broadcast journalist. He says, “News is something that has always caught my attention, especially after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. I remember that day very clearly. I came home from school, and immediately knew something was not right.”
During his freshman year of college in 2009, Buruca was fully involved in the campus’ television news organization, originally known as I~News and now known as Scroll Digital. There he wrote, shot, produced anchored and edited news packages for the Spanish and English newscasts. Buruca also was a fill in anchor, reporter and produced many weather segments for the English newscast.
Buruca eventually worked his way up the news stations ranks. He became paid leadership by becoming a producer in September 2011, Producer and Content Manager in April 2012, News Director in September 2012 and Content Director in January 2013 before graduation in July 2013.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Buruca is a 2009 graduate from Lynn English High School. Whether he is tracking the latest headlines, taking still pictures at a wedding or focusing on his studies, Buruca is no stranger to hard work.
AJ Buruca was always well known at his high school for being the journalist or the meteorologist on the school’s television station every morning.
It was through the high school’s newscast that he came to know about filming the sports for Lynn’s Cable Channel 15 that airs games from all four high schools and three middle schools.
Beginning his sophomore year, he filmed football, softball, baseball, and basketball for the Lynn English teams and continued until he graduated in June 2009.
AJ Buruca began his passion for photography his sophomore year of college in Fall 2011. Since then, he has established AJ Buruca Photography which works with weddings, portrait, landscape and creative images.
